Starting Pitcher, Mookie Banks, was seen meeting with Connor Macdonald at a dinner spot on Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks. The two were seen around Jason's restaurant, the popular pizza place on the island for Tuesday night Sushi and Pizza night. With the departure of JR Wilson from Outer Banks, Mookie Banks is likely to be the ace of the Aviators moving forward. This is going to be quite the task for a guy that went 3-15 last season, but adding a piece like Macdonald could be just what the doctor ordered.

Banks said that this was one of his favorite places to go in the Outer Banks, so why not bring him there to see what the island has to offer. The team plays about 1 hour from this island, but there is a ton of history on the island for Macdonald to take in. The beaches and wild horses are just a couple of them. Macdonald is coming off another World Series victory with the Vancouver Vandals. Macdonald also had another fantastic year where he hit .315 with 15 homeruns and 48 runs batted in. When you look at the various awards that this guy has won, it is clear that this guy is a stud. OBX would absolutely love to have a guy like him on the team.

We had a chance to catch-up with Mookie Banks regarding this meeting.
QUOTE
"Macdonald is a great guy. You know, I hated facing him, so seeing him in the blue and orange would be a hell of a change. I would like nothing more than to see him not facing me, to be honest. I mean, what do you have to say about this guy? He is an absolute stud. He will bring a ton to the table and the chance that he comes here, I mean, what do I really have to say? I need to show him that this is more than an island. The team all has been very excited that this guy could be available. Management in the Outer Banks has been absolutely phenomenal. They have treated me fantastically, I really have no issues with them. They are people that treat you exactly how you should be treated. They take care of you, they would not .. let you walk away without a fight."

The two guys were seen taking the trip around the island and taking in all the sights. Macdonald was on to meet with the management after getting insight from Banks on what it is to play in the Outer Banks.

Connor Tanner was also caught up with during this meeting, what he thought about Connor Macdonald, this is what he had to say:
QUOTE
“To me it would mean adding a player that I look up to.

Connor MacDonald was the original third base All-Star. To add him would make a world of difference. We would be able to tell the rest of the league we’re serious, and we’re fighting for a playoff spot. We immediately add an elite player to both the field and our lineup. Suddenly we’re not a last place joke, we’re becoming competitive. It would also show an immediate culture change, we’re no longer tanking for a high draft pick, we’re competitive and here to stay. I also believe adding a second legitimate All-Star would be incentive for other free agents to visit.

All in all, Connor MacDonald coming to the Outer Banks would make a world of difference in our clubhouse."

We also met with Banks about other possible destinations, there are no quotes, but this is what he thought about the teams:

https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png - They have Crabs, why would you want to go on a team that has Crabs? They have Stanton at 2B. Why in the world would you want to be a Crab? Tyler Oles is there and he is not winning Rookie of the Year, so I would pass on that one.
https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - They let you leave. Why would any team let you leave, especially someone like you? You are extremely valuable, why in the world would you go back?
https://i.imgur.com/1mBRoMe.png - New York has to be one of the worst destinations. There are a ton of people, most of them are rude as hell. Have you ever been to New York? If not, I am very sorry. They drafted Nate Piazza to take over for Laddy McBantershire who was a huge help in their history, would you want a team drafting your replacement before you even hit regression? They have Noodles in their infield too, do not get trapped into that.
https://i.imgur.com/KfiO1hh.png - Death Valley, I mean, Death is exactly what would happen with your career if you went here. Look at Hawk Russell, he hated it so much he asked to leave. Colton Hunter retired, I would not want to go here, it's probably really hot too.
https://i.imgur.com/ZH5lZR6.png - Texas is not a good spot for anyone. The houses are cheap, but it's so flat that it is almost really annoying. They have Roger Baton at 2B, why would you want to go there?

That leaves the only real option, Outer Banks! That has nice beaches, beautiful ladies, and management that will take care of you. We are all happy in Outer Banks, will you be next to enjoy it?
