Finally, after all this time, we are back with the new season's starting TPE totals for the Regular Season Start. A lot has changed in the league with trades, the draft, free agency and more. Some of this data may be slightly inaccurate still, as I am working out my lists but overall this should be fairly accurate.

First off, the top ten players:

1) SP Victoria Secret Evok - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - 1174 TPE
2) SS Julian O'Sullivan JuOSu - San Antonio Sloths https://i.imgur.com/ZH5lZR6.png - 1168 TPE
3) CF Kevin Biggio kckolbe - Death Valley Scorpions https://i.imgur.com/KfiO1hh.png - 1167 TPE
4) 2B Connor MacDonald .Rabidsponge21 - Outer Banks Aviators https://i.imgur.com/7ExRfXy.png - 1154 TPE
5) SP Ernesto Castillo Castillo - Providence Crabs https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png - 1151 TPE
6) SS Ozamataz Buckshank - Mavfatha - Death Valley Scorpions https://i.imgur.com/KfiO1hh.png - 1120 TPE
7) SS Johnny Runakiwi Jonstradamus - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - 1111 TPE
8) CL Penny Kowers - JKortesi81 - Providence Crabs https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png - 1102 TPE
9) LF Vick Thunder - PigSnout - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - 1074 TPE
10) SP Esteban Rodriguez - iamslm22 - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - 1070 TPE

Very interesting top ten, as we start with the same 10 players as last season at this time. Compared to the end of the season, only one spot is different, with Buckshank jumping Runakiwi.

Besides the top ten, three more players are over 1000 TPE now: Shooty McLish, Sophia Bennett and Randy Koufax.

An interesting look at the best player per team:

Vancouver Vandals: Victoria Secret - 1174 TPE
San Antonio Sloths: Julian O'Sullivan - 1168 TPE
Death Valley Scorpions: Kevin Biggio - 1167 TPE
Outer Banks Aviators: Kenny McCormick - 1154 TPE
Providence Crabs: Ernesto Castillo - 1151 TPE
New York Voyagers: Pepe Alazar - 881 TPE

Now I believe for the first time ever, the top five players in the league are on five different teams. Huge gap to the Voyagers here.

1100-1199 TPE: 8 players
1000-1099 TPE: 5 players
900-999 TPE: 7 players
800-899 TPE: 8 players
700-799 TPE: 5 players
600-699 TPE: 3 players
500-599 TPE: 11 players
400-499 TPE: 11 players
300-399 TPE: 18 players
200-299 TPE: 23 players
100-199 TPE: 55 players

There is still very much an imbalance in TPE. Reaching 600 TPE seems to be the big divider right now. Only 36 of 154 players have reached 600 TPE.

The average player has 365 TPE (up from 293 TPE last season), the mean player is Asipi Cantor with 221 TPE (interestingly enough, this barely went up, only 4 TPE higher than last seasons's mean player).

More about players and positions later.

Now, for the teams:

Total TPE:

Providence Crabs: 12,309 TPE
Vancouver Vandals: 11,603 TPE
San Antonio Sloths: 10,059 TPE
Outer Banks Aviators: 9,114 TPE
Death Valley Scorpions: 9,069 TPE
New York Voyagers: 8,011 TPE

Well, like before, total TPE is not the best way of looking at it, since there are different amount of players. Still, this is the first time in several seasons that the Vandals are not first. Aviators also made a big jump up.

TPE per player:

Providence Crabs: 559 TPE
Vancouver Vandals: 552 TPE
San Antonio Sloths: 529 TPE
Death Valley Scorpions: 477 TPE
New York Voyagers: 381 TPE
Outer Banks Aviators: 379 TPE

Very different than last season. The Crabs also have the lead here, with the top three teams very close. Even the Scorpions are not far behind. All six teams are much closer together than was the case before. Parity may slowly be coming.

Furthermore, I did the similar statistic to what I did last year, taking a team's 4 best SPs, 4 best CL and 9 best hitters in terms of TPE regardless of position.

Here the list:

Providence Crabs: 677 TPE
Vancouver Vandals: 641 TPE
San Antonio Sloths: 573 TPE
Death Valley Scorpions: 520 TPE
Outer Banks Aviators: 469 TPE
New York Voyagers: 430 TPE

This in my eyes gives the best view of the current state of the league. Crabs are definitely the favorites, despite their slow start. Vandals still solidly in second. Sloths solidly in third. Much more parity than in previous seasons.

Back to players:

I wanted to take a closer look at positions and see how things are there. First the average TPE per position (this also includes bench players and minor league players, but not free agents):

Shortstop: 664 TPE
2nd Base: 460 TPE
Right Field: 497 TPE
1st Base: 486 TPE
Center Field: 435 TPE
Starting Pitchers: 404 TPE
Left Field: 392 TPE
Closing Pitchers: 385 TPE
3rd Base: 345 TPE
Catcher: 280 TPE

As you can also see, Shortstop absolutely destroys any other position. It's not even funny anymore. A lot of new catcher creates push that number down a bit but that should rise fast.

A better idea is to look at the best six players at each position (obviously not all six players will play on different teams, but ideally that would be the case). For SP, I looked at the top 24, for CL at the top 12.

Shortstop: 922 TPE
2nd Base: 759 TPE
Right Field: 706 TPE
Center Field: 683 TPE
1st Base: 612 TPE
Starting Pitchers: 610 TPE
Closing Pitchers: 559 TPE
3rd Base: 512 TPE
Left Field: 480 TPE
Catcher: 470 TPE

We can see again that Shortstop is absolutely insane in terms of top heavy talent. It's not even close. The top 5 Shortsotps have an average of 1030 TPE, which would be good for the top 13 in players. Three of the top seven players are shortstops, four of the top 15.

And since I know people will be interested, here are the top 6 at every position and I will highlight some that may enter the top 6 most likely (rookies, etc) In brackets we see their rank at Spring Training last season:

Catcher:

1) Toshihiro Ishikawa - 891 TPE (1st)
2) Laddy McBantershire - 472 TPE (2nd)
3) Jackson Jackson - 426 TPE (2nd)
4) Nate Piazza - 373 TPE (new)
5) Billy Benson - 357 TPE (new)
6) Joffrey Baratheon - 301 TPE (4th)

Most likely to change: As predicted last season, Piazza and Benson enter the top 6. Most likely next season would be Catolo Kittone, Huki Hawaii or Refugio Castro.

1st Base:

1) Shooty McLish - 1048 TPE (1st)
2) Do Min-Joon - 930 TPE (3rd)
3) Mike Boss - 868 TPE (2nd)
4) Lazaro Hernandez - 477 (4th)
5) Jack Westin - 177 TPE (5th)
6) Richard Physt - 172 TPE (5th)

Most likely to change: No one is close, Toledo Jones and Chase Preza are two new rookies though.

2nd Base:

1) Connor MacDonald - 1154 TPE (1st)
2) Jarrod Stanton - 986 TPE (2nd)
3) Kenny McCormick - 866 TPE (3rd)
4) Roger Baton - 629 TPE (4th)
5) Clem Johnson - 538 TPE (5th)
6) Kemetrius Webster - 381 TPE (new)

Most likely to change: As predicted last season, Webster entered the top 6. There are a few rookies, but now no one is really close to the top 6, where all six are still active.

3rd Base:

1) Simon Hans - 820 TPE (1st)
2) Steven Moore - 729 TPE (2nd)
3) Connor Tanner - 554 TPE (4th)
4) Weldon Borthwell - 441 TPE (6th)
5) George Delrod - 327 TPE (5rd)
6) Pablo Sanchez - 202 TPE (new)

Most likely to change: With Colton Hunter retiring, everyone moved up a bit. AJ Robertson is already close to Sanchez, George McBash is another very active rookie who can get there soon. Both could surpass Delrod by next year.

Shortstop:

1) Julian O'Sullivan - 1168 TPE (1st)
2) Ozamatax Buckshank - 1120 TPE (3rd)
3) Johnny Runakiwi - 1111 TPE (2nd)
4) Eduardo Dinero - 949 TPE (4th)
5) Ziggy Coffey - 801 TPE (5th)
6) Bobby Shmurda - 384 TPE (6th)

Most likely to change: Goblin went inactive, so rookies Jimothy Kekton and Benjamin Beaux are the next in line already.

Left Field:

1) Vick Thunder - 1074 TPE (1st)
2) Robert Phelps - 611 TPE (2nd)
3) Hawk Russell - 509 TPE (3rd)
4) Kenny Gzus - 297 TPE (4th)
5) Orlando Jackson - 235 TPE (new)
6) Brock Harris - 158 TPE (5th)

Most likely to change: As predicted, Jackson enters the top 6. Next in line are rookies Jordan von Matt and Sidney Swing, who should both surpass Harris pretty easily.

Center Field:

1) Kevin Biggio - 1167 TPE (1st)
2) Pepe Alazar - 881 TPE (2nd)
3) Steven O'Sullivan - 564 TPE (5th)
4) Matthew Valentine - 551 TPE (3rd)
5) Marcos Gonzalez - 545 TPE (4th)
6) Keeks Marone - 394 TPE (6th)

Most likely to change: Jimm Dong is very close to Marone already, but rookie Speedy Boi is making the fastest strides to the top 6.

Right Field:

1) Sophia Bennett - 1008 TPE (1st)
2) Adrian Columbus - 948 TPE (1st)
3) Paulo Di Stephano - 773 TPE (3rd)
4) Jake Stennett - 751 TPE (4th)
5) Phillip J Fry - 472 TPE (6th)
6) Godfrey Bowman - 287 TPE (new)

Most likely to change: Bowman enters the top 6 over newly retired Arbin Asipi. No one is really close.

Starting Pitching:

1) Victoria Secret - 1174 TPE (1st)
2) Ernesto Castillo - 1151 TPE (2nd)
3) Esteban Rodriguez - 1070 TPE (3rd)
4) Randy Koufax - 1006 TPE (5th)
5) Chaz LaLocke - 933 TPE (4th)
5) Greg Steiner - 933 TPE (7th)
7) Phillip Thompson - 920 TPE (6th)
8) Elston Sinclair - 804 TPE (10th)
9) Eijun Wozy - 752 TPE (8th)
10) Sturgill Rove - 620 TPE (9th)
11) Khamati Kahn - 572 TPE (12th)
12) Knuckles Deep - 493 TPE (11th)

Some slight changes here, with Koufax, Steiner and Sinclair gaining some spots. Mookie Banks is only 2 TPE away from surpassing the retired Deep so he should be on this list next season. No other pitcher is really all that close to joining the list. Oles may be the next best shot.

Closing Pitching:

1) Penny Kowers - 1102 TPE (1st)
2) D'Aroldis Borkman - 882 TPE (2nd)
3) John Smoltz - 748 TPE (3rd)
4) Chuck Gamble - 576 TPE (5th)
5) Sebastian Musgrave-Smythe - 566 TPE (7th)
6) Hannu Karpotsev - 551 TPE (4th)
7) Pete Rose - 501 TPE (8th)
8) Tim Jackson - 473 TPE (6th)
9) Alvin Enax - 336 TPE (9th)
10) Keith Shields - 331 TPE (10th)
11) Ludwig Groetzinger - 330 TPE (new)
12) Alexander Ovechkin - 314 TPE (11th)

Some movement here with some inactives losing spots. Groetzinger is the only one who managed to get on here, but several others should join soon, most notably Chris Bennett. Adam Squiggly is a rookie who has a shot as well.

And then finally something I know everyone is excited about. A look at the top ten players from each regression class (season 1 is just the regular top ten obviously) In brackets again the last year's spot at Regular Season Start S5 and then the overall TPE rank:

Season 2:

1) Eduardo Dinero - 949 TPE (1st) - 15th overall
2) Greg Steiner - 933 TPE (3rd) - 17th overall
3) Phillip Thompson - 920 TPE (2nd) - 20th overall
4) D'Aroldis Borkman - 882 TPE (4th) - 22nd overall
5) Simon Hans - 820 TPE (5th) - 26th overall
6) Jake Stennett - 751 TPE (7th) - 31st overall
7) Steven Moore - 729 TPE (6th) - 33rd overall
8) Roger Baton - 629 TPE (8th) - 34th overall
9) Khamati Kahn - 572 TPE (9th) - 38th overall
10) Anna Joosten - 474 TPE (10th) - 52nd overall

Eduardo Dinero continues his dominance of the 2nd Regression class and officially enters the top 15, which is just shocking really. Steiner and Thompson already in the top 20 too. Insane how far these guys are already up compared to so many S1 guys. Several of these will end up in the overall top 10 when regression first hits. Dinero might get there even without that at this point.

Season 3:

1) Paulo Di Stephano - 773 TPE (1st) - 29th overall
2) Pete Rose - 501 TPE (2nd) - 47th overall
3) Matthew Auston - 404 TPE (4th) - 58th overall
4) Alvin Enax - 336 TPE (3rd) - 67th overall
5) Fastguy Pitcherman - 229 TPE (5th) - 90th overall
6) Boomerang Goblin - 217 TPE (6th) - 93rd overall
7) Rodney Flecha - 183 TPE (7th) - 106th overall

Yup. We are actually down to SEVEN players from this regression class, the last four of which are not active anymore. Di Stephano will cruise along easily and has entered the top 30 overall, which is fantastic for an S3 guy.

Season 4:

1) Connor Tanner - 554 TPE (2nd) - 41st overall
2) Clem Johnson - 538 TPE (3rd) - 45th overall
3) Hawk Russell - 509 TPE (1st) - 46th overall
4) Mookie Banks - 491 TPE (4th) - 49rd overall
5) Phillip J Fry - 472 TPE (5th) - 54th overall
6) Weldon Borthwell - 441 TPE (6th) - 56th overall
7) Goosebumps Walkaway - 334 TPE (7th) - 68th overall
8) Trent Boult - 288 TPE (8th) - 79th overall
9) Takumi Fujiwara - 214 TPE (new) - 95th overall
10) Michael Rapinski - 178 TPE (10th) - 109th overall

Russell slowed down a lot, Tanner takes the lead on the regression class. Not much movement elsewhere.

Season 5:

1) Kemetrius Webster - 381 TPE (1st) - 61st overall
2) Jimmy Dong - 378 TPE (7th) - 62nd overall
3) Nate Piazza - 373 TPE (6th) - 63rd overall
4) Billy Benson - 357 TPE (2nd) - 64th overall
5) Tyler Oles - 348 TPE (3rd) - 66th overall
6) Ludwig Groetzinger - 330 TPE (8th) - 70th overall
7) Speedy Boi - 313 TPE (new) - 74th overall
8) Godfrey Bowman - 287 TPE (new) - 80th overall
9) Guy Walker - 270 TPE (9th) - 84th overall
10) Ryan Stryker - 268 TPE (5th) - 85th overall

Season 5 is still extremely tough and tight. The top five are only 5 spots away from each other in the overall ranking even. Lots of movement still possible. I am most shocked by Chris Bennett not being in the top 10, to the point where I feel like I made a mistake with his TPE total? Lol. I guess we will see if he corrects this.

Season 6:

1) Damien Walec - 188 TPE - 104th overall
2) Bobby Hill - 179 TPE - 108th overall
3) Kellan Buchanan - 175 TPE - 111th overall
3) Adam Squiggly - 175 TPE - 111th overall
5) Ace Faulkner - 163 TPE - 114th overall
6) Catoli Kittone - 161 TPE - 115th overall
7) Lucas North - 160 TPE - 116th overall
8) Brett Smoky - 155 TPE - 121st overall
9) George McBash - 153 TPE - 122nd overall
10) Louis Storm - 152 TPE - 124th overall

Please let me know if any of the regression classes are wrong, especially with S6 and S5 I might still have some errors in my list, but I hope everything ended up being correct. Season 6 is obviously still very fresh and will see a lot of changes.

Hope everyone enjoyed this!

I took the TPE from his roster page, but honestly suspect that he is higher. Not sure where the error was.

Hmm seems to be no error, he just hasn't updated since AC 37 and PT 5-4. I'm pretty sure he's done all the tasks in between so he's overdue for a huge offseason update this season.

The TPE every week in the post are taken from the roster pages, which happens after the update every week is officially in so that everyone is on the same spot. So even if I had done it after, it wouldn't have changed anything I am afraid. Next week you will be higher!

My roster page is incorrect for tpe, I actually started the season at 973 based on my own calculation and that of the pbe calculator. This puts me #1 for s2 regression, alone in #5 amonst sp and puts the Vandals back in #1 for team tpe. Not sure how a 40 tpe discrepancy came about, if it was 50 I'd guess it was when I bought my 4th pitch.

Oh yeah, of course, I didn't think you whipped out the calc on every player, lol. Just making note of it.
