And here we are again for the final installment in our series of the Season 5 Top 50 players list. For the previous threads go here:

Introduction

#50-#31

#30-#11

Thanks to AndrewWarren13 and Bayley for the write-ups this time. The money should be parted two-ways ways between them.

And here are the final players:

9 tied) RF Adrian Columbus - Providence Crabs https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png - 8.50

.304/.370/.535, 398 AB, 24 HR, 63 RBI, 152 wRC+, 3.4 WAR, -1.2 ZR, 0/0 SB/CS

The first of the two tied players, Adrian Columbus is 9th on our list coming in at a total rating of 8.50 as decided by our voters. Columbus shared time as a right fielder and designated hitter last season for the Crabs, playing mainly the latter after Di Stephano was acquired. Offensively, Columbus was a force, with a slash line of .304/.370/.535 to go with 24 home runs and 63 runs batted in to equate to a total WAR of 3.4. Columbus’ only knock was that he had a negative ZR in right field for 50 games played and did not play the field the other half of games. Offensively, Columbus is terrific enough to have his rating be 8.50 and be listed as 9th best player.

9 tied) 2B Connor MacDonald - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png – 8.50

.315/.386/.476, 416 AB, 15 HR, 48 RBI, 140 wRC+, 4.1 WAR, +1.9 ZR, 10/7 SB/CS

After a tied rating and being tied in all tiebreakers, Connor MacDonald is also listed as the 9th best player in the PBE. The young Aviators second baseman who played last season with the Vandals is one of the top contact hitters in the PBE and is a well-rounded batter. Connor MacDonald last season put up a WAR of 4.1 and hit for a slash line of .315/.386/.476 with 15 home runs and 48 runs batted in. Defensively, MacDonald was above average with a ZR of +1.9 and defensive efficiency of 1.012. MacDonald struggled in the postseason but did enough for the Vandals to come away as champions and without him in the season, who knows where they would be. MacDonald signed with the Aviators as a free agent to a large contract and will take his .300+ batting average into the Outer Banks to showcase his skills.

8) RF Paulo Di Stephano - Death Valley Scorpions https://i.imgur.com/KfiO1hh.png / Providence Crabs https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png – 8.67

.289/.363/.501, 391 AB, 22 HR, 68 RBI, 140 wRC+, 3.6 WAR, +4.3 ZR, 0/0 SB/CS

The highest member of the list that played last season with two teams, Di Stephano is a guy capable of making a difference in the middle of a lineup. Paulo was traded last season from Death Valley to Providence for draft picks to give the Crabs a boost and the addition of Di Stephano got the Crabs to the World Series only to fall against the Vandals’ dynasty. On the season in total, Di Stephano had a slash line of .289/.263/.501 with 22 home runs and 68 runs batted in, equaling a total WAR of 3.6 on the season. Together, Paulo put together a +4.3 ZR in RF but just a +1.0 in Providence, maybe due to having a rangy center fielder but overall, Di Stefano provides above average offense and defense. Di Stephano takes his talents back to Death Valley and will look to continually be a top 10 player in the league.

7) RF Sophia Bennett - San Antonio Sloths https://i.imgur.com/ZH5lZR6.png - 8.83

.295/.402/.475, 383 AB, 16 HR, 73 RBI, 143 wRC+, 4.0 WAR, +5.2 ZR, 0/0 SB/CS

Maybe Sophia Bennett is not a “Superstar” according to some, but she is one of the most well rounded players in the PBE and that is what puts her so high on this list. The Season 5 Silver Slugger and Gold Glove winner is a mainstay in right field for the Sloths and is one of the more consistent players in the league. Bennett but up a terrific .295 batting average along with an impressive .402 on base percentage, .475 slugging percentage along with 16 home runs and 73 runs batted in. To go along with the impressive offensive numbers, Bennett took home the gold glove with a solid +5.2 ZR and 1.037 defensive efficiency in right field while also tallying 8 assists from the outfield.

6) SP Esteban Rodriguez - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png – 9.00

16-6 W-L, 3.17 ERA, 184.2 IP, 8.82 K/9, 1.03 WHIP, 4.8 WAR, 135 ERA+

The sixth best player is the number 2 pitcher in the Vandal’s rotation, Esteban Rodriguez. Not to be outshined by Victoria Secret, Rodriguez is in the top 6 for a reason and the rating of 9 seems to be fair given his dominance. The huge lefthander posted a 16-6 record with a great 3.17 ERA for the champions and combined that with 181 strikeouts to just 38 walks. His 16 wins were tied for 2nd all-time with Kristy O’Sullivan in Season 1 and with 181 strikeouts were good for 7th all time (tied). While we all know what Victoria Secret is capable of, the number two starter Rodriguez would be an ace about anywhere else and may be more statistically impressive than Secret in terms of wins and strikeouts at least.

5) CL Penny Kowers – Providence Crabs https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png - 9.17

8-5 W-L, 2.75 ERA, 16 saves, 98.1 IP, 13.82 K/9, 1.14 WHIP, 2.6 WAR, 155 ERA+

Penny Kowers has skipped around from a couple teams including New York, San Antonio, and Providence. During last season, he made 54 relief appearances for Providence. During that season, Kowers had a 2.75 ERA with 151 strikeouts, which was fifth best in the league among ANY pitcher. He only pitched 98 innings. Think about that, it is incredible. He had 16 saves as well. He is easily the top relief pitcher. Look at this guy when you are a reliever, you should want to be him.

4) LF Vick Thunder - Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - 9.33

.306/.385/.545, 382 AB, 24 HR, 70 RBI, 151 wRC+, 3.9 WAR, +2.3 ZR, 0/1 SB/CS

The second best power hitter on this list is none other than Vick Thunder. Thunder hit 24 homeruns with 70 runs batted in. He hit .306 with 117 hits during last season. He scored 68 runs and only struck out 68 times. He also had an OBP of .385 as well as a slugging percentage of .545. He had a WAR of 3.9. There is no question why this guy is on the list. What a consistent hitter. He even hit 29 homeruns the season before with 97 runs batted in. This guy is a stud and will continue to be a stud for the Vancouver Vandals.

3) SP Ernesto Castillo - Providence Crabs https://i.imgur.com/95I14kR.png - 9.83

9-6 W-L, 2.86 ERA, 189.0 IP, 9.10 K/9, 0.92 WHIP, 6.0 WAR, 142 ERA+

The second best pitcher on this list was none other than Ernesto Castillo. This past season was the second time in his career in which he did not end up with at least 10 wins. He was 9-6, however, he had a 2.86 ERA with 189 innings pitched. He struck out 191 batters with 5 complete games. We are also talking about a 0.92 WHIP and a.257 BABIP. He started 26 games last season. This guy has been relatively consistent, but he is known now for his fastball. This guy has a great arm, there is no doubt that he is second on the list for pitchers, everyone agrees that he is a stud.

2) SP Victoria Secret – Vancouver Vandals https://i.imgur.com/Gb8eEJQ.png - 10.00

13-5 W-L, 2.45 ERA, 180.0 IP, 7.75 K/9, 0.97 WHIP, 5.1 WAR, 175 ERA+

The top pitcher on the list is going to be Victoria Secret who had a perfect score of 10.00 but lost in tie-breakers. This pitcher is 13-5 with a 2.45 ERA this past season. She has been an absolute monster since coming into the league. The least amount of wins that she amounted in a season was 13. The highest ERA was 3.03. That is incredible. She also saw a season where she had 175 strikeouts. This past season saw 155 strikeouts as well as 4 complete games. She also has a sub 1.00 WHIP and only .262 BABIP. She has been one of the most, if not the most, successful pitcher in the history of the PBE. She may be argued to be the top person in the entire league.

1) SS Julian O'Sullivan – San Antonio Sloths https://i.imgur.com/ZH5lZR6.png – 10.00

.302/.362/.574, 427 AB, 31 HR, 95 RBI, 151 wRC+, 6.0 WAR, +10.4 ZR, 0/0 SB/CS

The top person on the list is none other than Julian O’Sullivan, only beating Victoria Secret after tie-breakers. Both received the top score of 10.00, but the tie-breakers decided the top spot. What do you have to say about Julian O’Sullivan? I am not sure anyone would have anything to say about Julian being at the top of the list. We are talking about someone that had 31 homeruns and 95 runs batted in. Julian hit .302 during the campaign with an OBP of .362. Quite a power hitter, this is someone that will go into the history books, without a doubt. O’Sullivan is coming off a 48 homerun and 123 runs batted in season. The average was a little down, but come-on, this person is a stud. Julian also has a 6.0 WAR, a .574 Slugging Percentage as well as a .936 OPS. No question that she is the top person in the league, I expect this to be very consistent.

And there you have it! Congratulations to everyone! We will be back next season!

Discuss!

3 RF and just one SS in top 10, SS is most stacked overall, but right outfield corner isn't far behind, especially at the top.

Really happy about my position, will be hard to repeat!

Jousu is probably some kind of European demigod hiding out in a deactivated NATO missile silo from the Cold War.
